This partnership aims to further the advancement of a practical data ecosystem for the intellectual property (IP) industry, as part of the Japanese government's Generative AI Accelerator Challenge (GENIAC) program.

Background and Purpose of the Initiative

The current landscape of AI development is facing significant hurdles, primarily due to a shortage of high-quality data crucial for effective AI training. Moreover, AI developers often struggle to gain access to necessary data because of barriers imposed by data rights holders. This challenge is especially pronounced in the IP sectors like manga, anime, and gaming, where a disconnect between data holders and AI creators hinders access and hampers progress.

There is also widespread unauthorized use where AI systems learn from or output data without proper permissions from copyright holders. This highlights an urgent need for transparent and fair transactions that ensure both the protection of creators' rights and the enrichment of AI capabilities. To facilitate practical applications of AI, a robust framework that secures high-quality data while protecting creator rights is essential.

In this proof-of-concept project aimed at establishing an AI data ecosystem for the IP industry, Visual Bank will take the lead in system development and infrastructure setup. Mynavi will contribute by providing its data assets under a stringent management framework that prioritizes copyright protection, ensuring that the data is used solely for analysis and other educational purposes. By combining their strengths, the two companies aim to create a clear and highly applicable data distribution model for AI development.

Key Initiatives of the Project

In collaboration with Mynavi, three primary proof points will be pursued:

1. Establishment of Basic Datasets for the IP Industry: Utilizing data assets provided by Mynavi, Visual Bank will create fine-tuned and foundational datasets tailored specifically for the IP industry.

2. Development of a Specialized Data Library System: The project will construct a data library system that becomes a resource for collecting, managing, providing, and expanding data. Strict guidelines regarding usage and security will be established to create an environment where data rights holders can safely entrust their data.

3. Creation of Exemplary Use Cases for Generative AI: By utilizing Mynavi's data for rigorous evaluation, the project aims to generate constructive models of AI use that do not infringe on specified intellectual property rights.

This initiative, led by Visual Bank, is focused on building a social infrastructure that facilitates the effective use of data in the IP sector. It includes:
