Conventus Strengthens Leadership with Brian Kriger's Appointment
In an exciting development for the medical professional liability landscape,
Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange has announced the appointment of
Brian Kriger, RPLU, ARM as the incoming president. This strategic move, effective January 1, 2026, marks a significant step in Conventus’ commitment to supporting New Jersey physicians through tailored insurance solutions.
A Smooth Transition
Kriger, who assumes the role from outgoing president
Amy Berezein, will oversee a planned transition phase to ensure continued excellence in service delivery to Conventus' physician members, brokers, and partners. This meticulous approach underscores the importance of stability and continuity as the organization navigates the evolving healthcare landscape.
With over 20 years of expertise in medical professional liability (MPL), Kriger's journey in the insurance sector is marked by notable achievements. Prior to his new appointment, Kriger served as the
Vice President of Underwriting at EmPRO Insurance, where he spearheaded the expansion into the Northeast, successfully establishing their New Jersey office. His extensive experience also includes a 17-year tenure at
MDAdvantage, where he took on diverse roles ranging from underwriting and operations to policyholder services and rate management.
Commitment to Excellence
The outgoing president, Amy Berezein, expressed confidence in Kriger's capabilities, emphasizing that his extensive experience, broker relationships, and operational discipline are vital for supporting members through ongoing changes in healthcare. "Serving Conventus and our members has been a privilege, and I am assured that Brian shares our commitment to integrity and long-lasting relationships," she stated.
Kriger himself expressed his enthusiasm about the new role, stating, "I am honored to join Conventus, which uniquely understands and serves New Jersey physicians. Our member-owned structure allows us to make decisions that prioritize their best interests." This perspective aligns perfectly with Conventus’s ethos of delivering personalized support tailored to independent physicians and small physician groups.
Building on a Strong Foundation
David Springer, President of Regional Programs at NIP Group, also lauded Kriger's appointment, highlighting that his blend of underwriting expertise and market knowledge is essential for accelerating growth while maintaining the high service standards that members expect.
Under the leadership of Berezein since 2012, Conventus has significantly enhanced its reputation for responsive service and broadened its risk management resources. Commenting on the transition, Richard Augustyn, Founder and CEO of NIP Group, noted, "Conventus is now well-positioned for the future, and Brian's leadership will build on that strong foundation, paving the way for new growth opportunities and innovations."
