President Xi acknowledged the public's concerns regarding job security, income stability, elderly and child care, education, and healthcare services as paramount to his administration's agenda. Throughout 2024, he committed to engaging with ordinary citizens across the country, aiming to better understand their lives and hardships, including income levels, living conditions, and access to healthcare.

In alignment with this focus, statistics from the Ministry of Finance revealed that a significant portion—around 70%—of government spending for 2024 was directed towards enhancing the welfare of residents. To that effect, numerous initiatives were launched throughout the year:

• - Revitalizing Urban Communities: The government commenced the reconstruction of over 50,000 aging urban residential neighborhoods.

Addressing the Aging Population Crisis

Recognizing the looming challenge posed by an aging populace, where over one-fifth of the Chinese population is over 60 years old, the central government allocated 300 million yuan in 2024 for nationwide eldercare initiatives. This included the installation of 358,000 home care beds to improve support for older adults.

During his speech, Xi reaffirmed that among all the tasks before the nation, the most crucial one is to ensure a happy life for the people, underlining the importance of compassion and responsibility in governance.

During the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence event, Xi introduced eight initiatives aimed at enhancing collaboration in education, youth exchange, economic development, free trade, agricultural partnerships, the digital economy, and environmental protection.

Moreover, China announced substantial commitments to Africa in a recent summit, revealing a collaborative framework for modernization through ten partnership initiatives over the next three years.
