Exploring Aesthetic Richness: Dai Fujiwara Exhibition in Omotesando

From March 17 to March 24, 2026, the Spiral Garden in Omotesando will host the fascinating exhibition titled "The Nature Within Humans: Colors and Textiles of 1.4 Billion People in India" by the renowned artist, Dai Fujiwara. This exhibition promises to be a vibrant journey through the exploration of color and texture, drawn directly from the vivid landscapes and daily life in India.

Exhibition Highlights

The exhibition is the culmination of Fujiwara's extensive color-hunting project undertaken across India, where he immersed himself in the local culture for nearly six months starting in fall 2024. He aims to unravel the interconnection between nature and the human lifestyle through the analysis of colors and textiles presented in everyday scenarios such as clothing, cityscapes, and ongoing cultural practices.

Visitors can anticipate an array of art pieces created from hues gathered around India, paraphrasing the beauty of local heritage and craftsmanship. Additionally, various smaller artworks will be available for purchase, allowing attendees to bring home a slice of this colorful experience.

One of the standout installations will be inspired by the iconic Taj Mahal, featuring hand-painted fabrics in cloud designs that will elegantly adorn the atrium of the Spiral. There will also be a stunning 10-meter diameter mobile creation artistically integrating various colors collected throughout the artist's tours in India, further enriching the spatial experience in which each piece unfolds.

In conjunction with this exhibition, the adjacent Spiral Esplanade (M2F) will host the "Changeable Wall - kabestyle exhibition" designed by Fujiwara. This initiative promotes the practice of engaging with textiles from diverse angles, reinforcing the integral role of fabric in cultural storytelling. Moreover, the entrance will highlight mesmerizing textile-themed events called "Marché Textile," presenting a unique platform for attendees to explore textile culture diversely and interactively.
