Empowering Women in Finance: Afternoon Dialogue Event in Hiroshima

On February 21, 2026, Fiduciary Partners held a remarkable event titled "Afternoon Dialogue @ Hiroshima," aimed exclusively at women in the financial sector. This gathering saw participation from 13 professionals representing eight different financial institutions, providing a platform for discussing career design within an industry that is actively striving to promote women's advancement. Despite the advances in women’s empowerment in finance, many women continue to face challenges such as a lack of role models and limited opportunities for external interactions. In response to these issues, this initiative was organized.

The day kicked off with an introduction by Yuki Moriwaki, the organizer and CEO of Fiduciary Partners, who expressed the importance of creating spaces where women can freely discuss their experiences and concerns. The event was spurred by feedback from numerous women who shared their feelings of isolation and stress from navigating their careers in an environment where female representation at leadership levels remains low.

To address these concerns, the organization had previously launched an online monthly dialogue series named "Pajama Dialogue" in May 2024, providing a safe space for discussion. The first in-person event took place in Tokyo in February 2025, followed by a second in September that same year. Building on the momentum, the first regional event was successfully executed in Hiroshima.

Structure of the Event

The Afternoon Dialogue comprised four main segments:
1. Introductions
Participants exchanged business cards and shared their profiles, facilitating open discussions on both professional and personal levels.
2. Keynote Speech
Yuko Nagasawa, Executive Officer and Career Consultant at a major financial institution, delivered a presentation on "Career Design for the Future," where she shared insights based on her own journey and addressed how women can navigate their career paths in a transforming work environment.
3. Group Dialogues
Facilitated by Nagasawa, attendees reflected on their careers and shared experiences in groups, allowing for valuable feedback and perspectives from peers.
4. Networking Session
The event concluded with a casual gathering at a nearby restaurant, fostering deeper connections as participants discussed various topics beyond work, including personal challenges.

Voices from Participants

Feedback from attendees highlighted the importance of such interactions:
  • - One participant expressed that hearing the experiences of more senior women helped alleviate her anxieties about her future career.
  • - Another noted the significance of group discussions, which allowed them to engage deeply with the material and draw valuable insights.
  • - Many appreciated the differences of opinion that emerged from the diverse backgrounds of the attendees, and many resonated with the realization that they were not alone in their challenges.

Organizer's Perspective

Yuki Moriwaki emphasized that this women-only event is not about alienating men; instead, it aims to create a supportive environment where women can openly discuss their challenges and aspirations. The goal is to encourage dialogue that broadens perspectives and helps participants explore various options to enhance their careers. As she stated, it is crucial for women, who constitute a smaller representation in decision-making roles, to be empowered as a part of the solution for creating more trusted financial organizations.

Upcoming Events

The next iterations of these dialogues are set to continue:
  • - An in-person event is scheduled for September 5, 2026, in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture.
  • - The online series will continue with a session on March 12, 2026, focusing on further discussions related to women in finance.
Women are encouraged to participate and engage in these vital conversations to foster career growth and connection within the financial sector.
