Cisco and R.Power S.A. Join Forces to Expand Renewable Energy Solutions in Europe

Cisco's Ambitious Renewable Energy Initiative in Europe

Cisco Systems, Inc., a leader in global technology innovation, is making substantial strides in the renewable energy sector through a strategic partnership with R.Power S.A., a prominent solar energy developer based in Poland. Facilitated by the Net Zero Consortium for Buyers (NZCB) from Sustainability Roundtable, Inc. (SR Inc), this collaboration represents a significant commitment to fostering sustainable energy solutions across Europe.

On March 6, 2026, SR Inc announced that Cisco has entered into a long-term Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with R.Power S.A. This agreement will support the development of four solar projects located in Poland: Wydartowo, Bieżyce, Ostrzeniewo III, and Nowy Zagór III, totaling a remarkable 470 GWh of contracted volume. The partnership reflects Cisco's dedication to enhancing access to renewable energy through a series of innovative projects aligned with its sustainability goals.

With commercial operations scheduled to launch in 2027, this 15-year agreement aims to significantly increase solar capacity while simultaneously improving the European renewable energy landscape. By doing so, it will contribute to the transition from a heavily carbon-based Polish electricity grid to a cleaner, more sustainable alternative. This initiative is part of Cisco's ongoing commitment to renewable energy, with an emphasis on responsible corporate practices and environmental stewardship.

Jim Boyle, the CEO of SR Inc, highlighted the increasing role of international corporations in advancing regional renewable energy solutions. He stated, “Cisco's leadership showcases the extent to which corporate buyers can take action through diversified, high-quality investments in clean energy.”

Evan Scott Brown, Cisco’s Head of Renewable Energy and Utilities, expressed pride in being part of such an impactful project. He remarked, “This partnership not only aligns with Cisco's commitment to a resilient energy future but also directly addresses operational needs, including the development of our laboratory facilities in Krakow.” Brown’s insights underline how strategic partnerships can not only enhance access to clean energy but also create tangible business value.

Rafał Hajduk, the Commercial Director at R.Power S.A., emphasized the strengthened position of R.Power as a leading multi-technology renewable energy producer in Central Europe due to this partnership. He pointed out that Cisco's long-term commitment is essential in developing new solar capabilities in Poland, thus supporting broader clean energy adoption across the region.

Founded in Warsaw, R.Power has established itself as a key player in the renewable energy sector, with ongoing projects across Europe, including Romania, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Germany. The company is currently developing over 30 GW of photovoltaic projects alongside energy storage systems (BESS) and wind energy solutions. Its activities span the entire renewable energy value chain, from project development to energy production as an independent power producer (IPP).

In collaboration with Cisco through the NZCB, R.Power aims to accelerate clean energy adoption in Poland, providing real environmental and economic benefits to local communities. The partnership not only signifies a milestone for Cisco and R.Power but also marks a significant step forward for the renewable energy landscape in Europe.
