Europe's Future 500 Initiative: A New Era of Global Champions



The Future 500 Initiative has recently unveiled a groundbreaking project that identifies 100 high-potential companies capable of emerging as global champions. This was announced at the Future 500 Forum held in Bled, Slovenia, on September 1, 2026. The initiative aims to bolster Europe's competitive stance against global giants like the US and China.

A New Model for Identifying Champions



The initiative utilized a data-driven selection model that showcases companies that have achieved significant growth. For instance, the identified companies in Slovenia witnessed a remarkable increase in their combined revenues, reaching €2.1 billion. This pilot program serves not only Slovenian enterprises but sets a framework for similar efforts across Europe.

Stjepan Orešković, the founder of the Future 500 Initiative, emphasized the importance of early identification of promising companies. As Europe begins to mobilize substantial capital—up to €80 billion via the European Investment Bank’s ETC 2.0—there is a pressing need to connect these emerging firms with necessary resources.
