New Patient Support App 'Two In' Launching for Enhanced Healthcare Experience in Japan

Launch of the Patient Support App 'Two In'

The Medical Engineering Institute (MEI), headquartered in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, is set to launch its new patient support app 'Two In' starting July 2025. This innovative service aims to enhance the experience of patients visiting medical facilities and improve the operational efficiency of healthcare staff.

What is 'Two In'?

'Two In' is designed not only to provide valuable resources for patients but also to streamline the responsibilities of medical personnel. Patients will have access to a variety of features including checking their upcoming appointments, viewing the number of people waiting at their healthcare facility, and confirming prescriptions or test results. By utilizing this app, both patients and healthcare staff can significantly reduce their burdens, creating a smoother and more efficient experience for all involved.

Initial Adoption at Maebashi Red Cross Hospital

The Maebashi Red Cross Hospital has been selected as the first medical institution to implement the 'Two In' app, with patient services expected to commence in July 2025. Hospital Director Minoru Nakano expressed his enthusiasm about the project's potential advantages, stating, "With the introduction of the 'Two In app,' patients will be able to see how many people are ahead of them for consultations. This will allow them to enjoy their time in shops, cafes, or their cars while waiting, moving us a step closer to our philosophy of being a 'hospital that is kind and reliable for everyone.' This collaboration with MEI is a valuable effort towards improving our medical services."

Key Features of the 'Two In' App

1. Appointment Confirmation: Patients can confirm their upcoming medical appointments, including the date, time, healthcare institution, and department, along with receiving reminder notifications the day before.
2. Waiting List Transparency: On the day of their visit, patients can see the current number of people waiting at their designated healthcare facility. When the number drops below a certain threshold, they will receive a notification via the app, allowing them to utilize their waiting time productively at nearby cafes or other locations.
3. Prescription and Test Result Access: After their visit, patients can check their medication prescriptions and test results at any time through the app.

Implementation Schedule

The rollout of the 'Two In' app for patients is scheduled for July 2025.

Future Prospects

MEI plans to expand the app’s capabilities based on the needs and data collected from the healthcare environment, working towards optimizing operations and enhancing patient satisfaction during healthcare visits. The institute is committed to leveraging digital technology to improve healthcare experiences for patients.
