Elks Scholarship Application Now Open
The Elks National Foundation has officially opened applications for the prestigious Most Valuable Student (MVS) scholarship program. This initiative presents a substantial opportunity for high school seniors across the United States, with applications accepted until
November 12, 2025.
What is the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship?
The MVS scholarship aims to recognize students who exhibit leadership skills, academic excellence, and a commitment to their communities. This year,
20 national finalists will receive
$30,000 each, while an additional
480 runners-up will be awarded
$4,000 scholarships. The scholarships support students in various ways that help fund their higher education journeys.
According to the Elks National Foundation, a significant investment of nearly
$4.3 million is dedicated to college scholarships this year alone. The foundation emphasizes the importance of academic achievement and character development, assessing applicants based on their
academic records,
leadership,
community service, and
financial need.
Who Can Apply?
Students who are U.S. citizens currently in their senior year of high school are eligible to apply, regardless of whether they have any connections to the Elks organization. This opened the doors to many hopeful candidates from diverse backgrounds, pushing the boundaries on who can receive this recognition and support.
Benefits of the MVS Scholarship
Beyond the financial assistance provided, the winners of the MVS scholarship gain access to a special
Leadership Weekend set to take place in Chicago. This event offers finalists not only a chance to receive their scholarships officially but also an opportunity to build valuable connections and friendships among peers. In the past, this event has fostered long-lasting relationships and networking opportunities that transcend the scholarship experience.
High-profile success stories abound, with previous scholarship recipients graduating from college at a rate of
93%, significantly surpassing the national averages for college completion. This impressive rate highlights the Elks National Foundation's dedication to supporting students and nurturing their potential.
A Closer Look at the Impact
Members of the Elks community are deeply involved in charity work that addresses local needs, focusing on various areas, including youth programs, veteran services, and community support. One notable example is
Crystal Vo, a recent top winner who plans to attend the
University of Pennsylvania. Vo expressed gratitude for the scholarship, stating, "The Elks' continued support will help me stay grounded and confident as I navigate the transition to college. Being far from home but also having this community will make all the difference."
