Luisa Herrera-Garcia to Deliver Keynote Address at LIM College

LIM College, a renowned institution in New York City dedicated to fashion and lifestyle education, proudly announces that Luisa Herrera-Garcia will be the keynote speaker for the Class of 2025 at the college's 86th Commencement ceremony. The event is scheduled for May 9, 2025, at 9 a.m. ET, taking place at the prestigious David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center.

As a distinguished alumna of LIM, having graduated in 1988, Herrera-Garcia has made significant contributions to the fashion industry over her impressive 30-plus year career. Currently serving as the Chief Officer of Development and Production Sourcing at Alexander Wang, her previous roles have included high-ranking positions such as Senior Vice President of Production and Sourcing at On This Day, Vice President of Production at John Varvatos Enterprise, and Director of Sourcing and Production at Calvin Klein Collection.

In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Herrera-Garcia will also be honored with the Distinguished Achievement Award and an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree during the ceremony. LIM College President Ron Marshall expressed his admiration for Herrera-Garcia, stating, "Luisa epitomizes the opportunities for success that an LIM College education represents and is a true role model for our students." President Marshall further highlighted her commitment to mentoring young professionals, facilitating internships, and providing valuable guidance in the fashion industry.

Beyond her professional accolades, Herrera-Garcia actively engages in philanthropic efforts and civic organizations. She is currently a member of LIM College's Industry Advisory Board and has been involved with notable organizations like Alvin Ailey II and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Her contributions were recognized in 2016 when she received the esteemed Maxwell F. Marcuse Award, the highest honor for alumni at LIM College.

In addition to Luisa Herrera-Garcia's keynote address and honorary degree, other exceptional alumni will be recognized at the commencement. Velissa Vaughn, who obtained her MPS in 2016, will receive the Shining Star Award for her work as Owner and Co-Founder of JxV Collective. Brandon Smithwrick, from the Class of 2018 and currently Head of Content at Kickstarter, will be honored with the 2025 Rising Star Award.
