THE Madan Festival: A Celebration of Culture
On October 12, 2025, we will commemorate a significant milestone: the 60th anniversary of normalized relations between Japan and Korea. To celebrate this historic occasion, 'THE Madan Festival' will be held at Yamato University in Suita City, Osaka. The term 'Madan' means 'garden' or 'square' in Korean, perfectly capturing the spirit of cultural exchange that the festival aims to foster through food, music, and fashion, creating a unique experience for all attendees.
One of the key highlights of this festival will be the special appearance of Mie Arai, a talented gospel singer from Osaka who has captured the hearts of many with her powerful voice and warm personality. With an engaging stage presence that often leaves audiences in stitches, Mie is a notable figure in the gospel music scene, known for her ability to channel energy and joy through her performances.
Mie Arai: A Journey Through Music
Mie Arai's journey into the world of gospel music began in 1999 and transformed her life. After developing a deep passion for the genre, she traveled to New York, Chicago, and Minneapolis to immerse herself in the authentic experience of gospel music. Her profound admiration for the innate strength of humanity is ever-present in her performances.
Throughout her career, Mie Arai has received numerous accolades, including the Best Soloist Award at the Gospel Awards in 2005. In March 2006, she had the honor of performing in front of Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Dorinda Clark Cole, who praised Mie by referring to her as “Dorinda’s sister.” Further recognition followed when Mie performed in front of Richard Carpenter from The Carpenters, receiving his commendation.
Mie's impact extends beyond performances; she has appeared on NHK's 'Gurutto Kansai Ganbarism' and participated in various concerts, including the 'Memories of You' live radio recording in 2009. Her talents have garnered the attention of renowned producers, including Gary Hines from the Grammy Award-winning group Sounds of Blackness, who acknowledged her remarkable vocal abilities.
