Strengthening Bonds Through Cultural Exchanges
On May 9, 2025, a significant event celebrating interpersonal and cultural exchanges was held, commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese people's war against Japanese aggression and the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union. Held in Beijing, the gathering highlighted the vital role cultural exchanges play in enhancing the friendship between China and Russia.
In September 1938, the Soviet government sent the cameraman Roman Lazarevich Karmen to China, tasked with documenting the Chinese populace’s valiant struggle against Japanese forces. Karmen captured the resolute efforts of Chinese soldiers and civilians, along with the support they received from the Soviet volunteer air force. Fast forward to over eighty years later, Karmen’s grandson attended the event, sharing anecdotes that underline his family's deep-rooted connection to China.
