FOX News Channel Dominates Primetime Ratings for the Third Straight Week
FOX News Channel Dominates Primetime Ratings
In a remarkable display of viewership, FOX News Channel (FNC) has emerged as the clear leader across all broadcast networks during the week of July 7 - 13. Averaging an impressive 2.4 million viewers in primetime, FNC has successfully topped the ratings for three consecutive weeks, leaving competitors such as NBC with 2.2 million viewers, CBS at 2 million, and ABC also at 2 million trailing in its wake.
This strong performance is part of a larger trend; since Memorial Day, FNC has commanded a staggering 3 million viewers in weekday primetime, comparing favorably to ABC's 2.9 million, NBC's 2.4 million, and CBS's 2.1 million. The channel has shown consistent leadership in this critical time slot, taking charge of the ratings race since the official start of summer on June 20.
FNC's primetime ratings have reached new heights this year, marking the third time in 2025 that it has dominated the broadcast competition from Monday to Sunday. In total weekday primetime viewership, FNC’s performance shines even brighter, having outpaced its rivals a total of seven times this year. The last period where FNC held steady at the top for three consecutive weeks among broadcast networks was back in 2020.
Notably, during total day ratings, which span from 6 AM to 6 AM ET, FNC attracted 1.5 million viewers and led all cable networks with 190,000 viewers in the coveted 25-54 demographic. In a stunning display of power, FNC managed to secure 97 of the top 100 cable telecasts for the week, even amidst competition from Wimbledon tennis coverage.
Particularly noteworthy programs contributing to this success include "The Five," which averaged 3.5 million viewers and 376,000 in the 25-54 demographic, thereby solidifying its position as a leader in cable news. Other successful segments include "Special Report with Bret Baier," attracting 2.6 million viewers, and "The Ingraham Angle," which garnered 2.5 million viewers. Even at late-night slots, "Gutfeld!" managed to attract 2.9 million, surpassing ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" which only managed 1.25 million viewers.
In daytime programming, FNC continued to showcase its dominance with shows like "The Will Cain Show" drawing in 2,170,000 viewers and "Outnumbered" with 1,935,000 viewers, easily outperforming commercial competition, as CBS’s Mornings lagged behind at 1,826,000.
As it stands, FOX News Channel has solidified its long-standing reputation as a powerhouse in the news arena. For the last eight years, it has maintained its status as the leading network in basic cable and has been the most-watched television news channel for more than 23 consecutive years. It currently captivates nearly 70% of the cable news viewing audience, reflecting its broad appeal.
FNC's audience has been noted as the most politically diverse in cable news, attracting a significant number of Democrat and Independent viewers. A recent Pew Research Center study revealed that more Americans choose FNC as their main political news source than any other network. Furthermore, a 2023 poll by the New York Times/Siena College found FNC to be the leading news source among voters nationwide.
Owned by Fox Corporation, FNC is available in approximately 70 million homes and consistently claims the top slots among the genre, reaffirming its pivotal role in shaping news narratives. As the media landscape continues to evolve, FNC's ongoing success is a testament to its ability to engage and resonate with viewers across the nation.
