AEC Cares Day of Service: A Beacon of Hope in Community
On June 4, 2025, AEC Cares, a non-profit organization, will host a significant Day of Service in Boston. This event, made possible through the support of ConstructConnect and numerous community partners, aims to bring transformative change to Catholic Charities Boston’s Teen Center at St. Peter’s. This center plays a crucial role in supporting adolescents in the Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood of Dorchester, providing them with a safe space during after-school hours and summer months.
The Mission Behind AEC Cares
AEC Cares focuses on uniting professionals from the architecture, engineering, and construction industries to foster positive change in communities across the nation. Since its inception, the organization has identified cities that would benefit the most from revitalization efforts. Cities like Atlanta, Chicago, and Las Vegas have previously hosted similar projects, each leaving a lasting impact on their communities.
With more than a hundred volunteers expected to participate, this year's event underscores the collective commitment to social responsibility and community service. Volunteers will engage in a “blitz build,” a day-long effort to improve the physical environment of the Teen Center, ensuring that it meets the needs of the youth it serves. The renovation will not only enhance the facilities but also imbue the community with a sense of hope and pride.
Partners in Progress
ConstructConnect's role as the founding member and primary organizer of this event is pivotal. As a leader in providing software solutions for the construction industry, ConstructConnect stands at the forefront of not just building infrastructure but also building community spirit. Other industry partners contributing their resources and expertise include notable names like YKK AP America Inc., Deltek, Forbo Flooring Systems, and Mapei among others. The collaborative nature of these partnerships highlights the shared responsibility among industry leaders to give back to the community.
According to Jennifer Johnson, President of AEC Cares and Chief Product Officer at ConstructConnect, “AEC Cares is committed to changing spaces and lives through community-focused renovation projects. Our story is one of community, dedication, and the belief that small actions can lead to big changes, year after year.” This ethos resonates throughout the event, illustrating the power of collective action.
Why Catholic Charities?
The choice to support Catholic Charities Boston is significant. This organization has been a pillar of support for individuals and families of all faiths for over a century. With over 70 programs operating across Greater Boston, Catholic Charities addresses fundamental needs through its focus on education, workforce development, and social justice. The Teen Center is just one aspect of their expansive work, providing essential after-school support for local adolescents who face various challenges.
By choosing this site for their renovation efforts, AEC Cares is not only providing a facelift but is also supporting the mission of Catholic Charities to fight against poverty and promote self-sufficiency in families throughout the community.
Moving Forward Together
As the countdown to the event begins, the excitement among volunteers and partners builds. The impact of AEC Cares’ Day of Service extends far beyond the physical renovations; it cultivates a spirit of unity, hope, and resilience among the participants and the communities they serve. This initiative reminds us all that together, we can create lasting change, one community at a time.
