6th Tokiwaso Town 4-Koma Manga Award Open for Entries

The 6th Tokiwaso Town 4-Koma Manga Award has officially started accepting submissions from July 1 to September 13. This competition, organized by the Toshima Ward and the Toshima Manga Land Executive Committee, encourages artists to create works under the theme of "Harmony".

Theme: "Harmony"

The theme for this year's award is "Harmony", allowing for a broad interpretation. Participants can submit their original 4-koma manga in two categories: General and Junior. Each entry will go through an initial screening by the organizers, followed by a final examination by a panel of judges. Awards will be granted in both categories: one Grand Prize, three Excellence Awards, and several Honorable Mentions.

This year, the judging panel will be led by renowned manga artist, Shiriagari Kotobuki. Kotobuki has a rich history in the manga industry, recognized for his work across various genres. He was awarded the Purple Ribbon Medal in 2014 for his distinctive contributions to the art.

Awards Announcement and Exhibition

The winners will be announced on November 1, via the event's official website, and a ceremony to celebrate these accomplishments will take place later in November. Winning entries will also be featured in an exhibition starting on November 1 at the Tokiwaso Manga Museum and other local facilities.

The coordinator for the event expressed their excitement, noting that this year marks the 6th anniversary of the Tokiwaso Manga Museum, which has continuously hosted this award since its inception. They highlighted that the term "harmony" could encompass ideas of peace and tranquility, encouraging submissions from individuals of all ages. They eagerly await to see how participants interpret this theme in their 4-koma comics.
