Gaotu Techedu's Transition in Board Composition
On April 22, 2025, Gaotu Techedu Inc. (NYSE: GOTU), an innovative education technology firm and large-class online tutoring service, confirmed a pivotal change in its board structure. Mr. Ming Liao announced his resignation as an independent director due to personal reasons. Mr. Sun brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise. He has been a Tenured Associate Professor at Renmin University of China’s Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence since September 2021. Before that, he held tenure-track positions at notable institutions such as Northeastern University in Boston and the University of Pittsburgh. His strong academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Hohai University, followed by a master’s and Ph.D. in engineering mechanics obtained from Columbia University. His postdoctoral training took place at MIT.
Known for his interdisciplinary AI research related to science, engineering, and education, Mr. Sun has developed an impressive portfolio with over 80 peer-reviewed publications featured in leading journals such as Nature Machine Intelligence, as well as key AI conferences like NeurIPS and ICLR.
