Troy Van Leeuwen's New SQUIER® Signature Model Launches October 2026

Unveiling the Paranormal Troy Van Leeuwen Telecaster® XII

On October 7, 2026, the latest collaboration between Fender Musical Instruments Corporation and renowned guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen will come to life with the release of the SQUIER® Paranormal Troy Van Leeuwen Telecaster® XII. This signature model promises a unique sound and character, aimed at delivering the rich tones of a 12-string Telecaster to the next generation of players.

Troy Van Leeuwen, celebrated for his work with bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle, and many others, has had a distinguished career spanning over 30 years. His approach to music incorporates a brilliant blend of texture and harmony, resulting in soundscapes that have shaped numerous hits in the alternative rock genre. The new Telecaster® XII aims to capture his distinct playing style, combining shimmering harmonics with the signature attack of a Telecaster.

In the development of this model, Van Leeuwen expressed a desire to create an instrument that would inspire even those who have never played a 12-string guitar before. He remarked, "I wanted to create a guitar that anyone could afford that sparks inspiration for those curious about playing a 12-string. Having worked with the Fender team for over a decade, they quickly understood my vision for a guitar that not only sounds great but also looks amazing and feels fantastic right from the start."

Fender's Chief Product Officer, Justin Noble, praised Van Leeuwen’s unique approach, stating, "Troy has always approached the guitar in his distinctive way. His ability to capture texture, harmony, and space is unparalleled. With his stylish sensibility, the guitar needed to sound as good as it looks. This model expresses his creative spirit from every angle while making the 12-string Telecaster more accessible to the new generation of musicians."

The Paranormal Troy Van Leeuwen Telecaster® XII draws direct inspiration from a Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt 12-string Telecaster created by Senior Master Builder Paul Waller, known for its robust and familiar sound. By merging this classic tone with the rich harmonic properties of a 12-string, this model does not compromise the iconic presence and sharp sound of a Telecaster, expanding musical expressions for players.

This signature model embodies the high quality, impressive aesthetics, and unique sound that arise from the collaboration between Fender and Troy Van Leeuwen. It integrates his distinctive style into a player-friendly design. Enveloped in a striking custom finish dubbed "Copper Age," the Telecaster® XII features a unique headstock design honoring the classic Telecaster® XII while emphasizing this model's individuality. Additionally, a top-load/through-body 12-string bridge enhances tuning stability and simplifies string changes, addressing common challenges associated with 12-string guitars.

The characteristics that define this guitar include:
  • - Custom 'Copper Age' Finish: A bold and impressive finish that aligns with Van Leeuwen’s unique style.
  • - Custom Telecaster® XII Headstock: A unique headstock design that pays homage to the classic Telecaster® XII while showcasing its distinctiveness.
  • - Player-friendly 12-string Bridge: Enhances tuning stability and simplifies string changes, making it easier to handle.
  • - Nyla Body: Known for its excellent resonance, supporting rich harmonics and dynamic response.
