The Tokyo Disability Sports Festival is set to return with its 59th edition, welcoming participants with intellectual disabilities. Taking place in the vibrant environment of Komazawa Olympic Park, this event promises fun and engagement, allowing athletes and families to enjoy a day filled with sports and camaraderie.

Who Can Participate?

The festival is open to individuals with intellectual disabilities living, working, or studying in Tokyo, including users of local facilities. This inclusive celebration encourages everyone to join, regardless of their abilities.

Activities Included

Participants can look forward to a variety of entertaining activities:

• - Bonparabics: A rhythmic exercise combining Bon Odori and Para Para dance.
• - Tamaire: A traditional ball-throwing game.
• - Ball Passing Relay: A fun relay race with teamwork.
• - 30m Race: A friendly foot race.
• - Tug of War: A popular strength challenge.
• - Big Ball Push: Collaborating to move a giant ball.

There’s something for everyone, and the activities are all designed to be engaging and enjoyable, fostering a spirit of teamwork and healthy competition.

Call for Artwork

In conjunction with the festival, the organisers are inviting creative submissions for the art competition themed around “Bright and Joyful Gatherings”. The chosen pieces will be displayed at the event and featured in the program booklet. Awards will be given during a ceremony, including:

• - Best Award: 1 winner, whose artwork will be on the cover of the program.
• - Excellent Award: 2 winners will also receive recognition.
