To commemorate this launch, YAMATO Lab. will host the "SUKAJAN to KIMONO" release event at their gallery and shop in Kagurazaka, Tokyo, from April 19 to April 27, 2025. This nine-day event will offer visitors an exclusive opportunity to explore and experience the Sukajan Kimono firsthand.

The Evolution of Sukajan

Originally born out of the post-war chaos in Japan, Sukajan jackets emerged as a unique form of expression for American soldiers stationed in the country. These jackets, featuring exotic embroidery depicting motifs such as eagles, tigers, and dragons, became a symbol of Japan's rich culture and artistry. The collaboration between YAMATO Lab. and TAILOR TOYO is an acknowledgment of this heritage, aiming to elevate the Sukajan into the realm of traditional clothing by merging its elements with the classic kimono, thereby creating a new cultural intersection.
