Permag™ Expands Its Magnet Manufacturing Facility

Permag™, the only producer of samarium-cobalt (SmCo) magnets in the United States, recently unveiled plans for a multi-million-dollar investment aimed at enhancing its manufacturing capabilities at the Electron Energy Corporation (EEC) facility located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This initiative reflects a strategic move to establish a secure, reliable, and resilient domestic supply chain for critical magnetic components. The global demand for SmCo magnets is on the rise, driven by sensitivities across various industries, making this expansion a timely action to meet future requirements.

The plan to increase production capacity at EEC is not a spontaneous decision. The groundwork for this investment was laid several months prior, with the objective of more than doubling the current production capabilities. This extensive expansion will incorporate cutting-edge technology for alloying, pressing, and manufacturing operations. In addition to enhancing direct operations at EEC, the investment will also benefit subsidiary companies such as Permag Dexter Magnetic Technologies and Magnetic Component Engineering, enabling them to better serve their clientele across various sectors, including aerospace, defense, semiconductors, and medical industries.
