Sinopec Secures $40.9 Billion in Contracts at China International Import Expo 2025

On November 4, 2025, during the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE 2025), China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) hosted a thematic forum and signing ceremony that underscored its commitment to fostering international partnerships in various sectors. The company secured purchase agreements with 34 partners from 17 different countries, accumulating a total contract value of $40.9 billion. These contracts encompass 24 products across ten major categories, including crude oil, chemicals, equipment, materials, and consumer goods.

With a theme centered on "Technology Driven, AI Empowered: The Future of Energy," the forum focused on topics such as digital intelligence, technological innovations, research and development in new materials, supply chain resilience, and deepening international cooperation in the energy sector. Sinopec's Vice Chairman and President, Zhao Dong, highlighted the company's ongoing commitment to achieving high-quality development while relying on technological strength.

In his speech, Zhao emphasized that the future of Sinopec is highly dependent on maintaining long-term trust and strong support from global partners. He expressed Sinopec's readiness to collaborate with various stakeholders to drive scientific and technological innovation, enhance development mechanisms, and generate new industrial benefits. Zhao also pointed out the importance of accelerating the integration of next-generation information technologies into the energy and chemical sectors, leading to industrial enhancement and efficiency gains.

Furthermore, the establishment of green and low-carbon cooperation was a significant focus of the event. Zhao proclaimed that Sinopec would advance the clean and efficient use of traditional energy while scaling up the development of new energy sources. This dual approach aims to pave the way for sustainable growth and optimistic prospects for the energy and chemical industries.

Notable executives from leading firms, including Datuk Sazali Hamzah from Petronas Chemicals Group, Axel Lorenz from Siemens, and Aravind Yarlagadda from Baker Hughes, were also present, sharing insights on their respective industries and reinforcing the importance of collaboration in fostering innovation and progress in the energy sector.

Since the inaugural CIIE in 2018, Sinopec has signed agreements exceeding $325 billion across eight expos, solidifying its position as a major player in the global energy marketplace. The company's initiatives not only reflect its ambition to drive growth within its own operations but also highlight its proactive efforts in shaping the future landscape of the energy industry on a global scale.

As Sinopec continues its journey towards technological advancement and global cooperation, it remains committed to being a leader in the energy sector, focusing on sustainability and innovation as key drivers of its business strategy.

With China's 15th Five-Year Plan on the horizon, the potential for Sinopec and its partners to reshape the energy narrative through cooperative innovation and advanced solutions seems extremely promising. This commitment to evolution places Sinopec not just at the heart of the energy industry, but as a pivotal force in redefining its future.
