Centaurus Financial Steps Up for Animals in Need

In Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, the Companions Animal Center serves as a crucial refuge for lost, surrendered, and unwanted animals. Previously known as the Kootenai Humane Society, the center is the only physical shelter in this community. Scheduled for September 6, 2025, the annual dinner will take place from 6 PM to 9 PM at the shelter, which is located at 10275 N. Atlas Road, Hayden, Idaho. Priced at $125 per ticket, the event aims to enhance support for several vital programs, including low-cost spay/neuter and vaccine clinics, microchipping, and the essential task of finding new homes for stray and surrendered animals.

Vicky Nelson, the development director for Companions Animal Center, emphasized the significance of the center's work in the community. "We are the only physical shelter in the area. Other rescue groups may not have the means to house as many animals due to their reliance on foster caregivers. Only our facility can provide consistent care and housing for these animals until they find a forever home," she explained.

As the top sponsor for the 2025 Tails at Twilight, Centaurus has generously donated $25,000 to support the organization’s various initiatives. This donation enables the shelter to continue providing essential care and safety for animals in need. Nelson noted, "We hope to attract additional sponsors for Tails at Twilight, aiming for 15 in total. Participation, whether as a donor or an attendee, is vital for the shelter's success and for promoting animal welfare in our community."

The theme for this year’s 20th anniversary event is “Hearts of Gold,” encouraging patrons to reflect on their capacity to make a difference in the lives of animals. Centaurus CEO Ron King expressed pride in supporting the Companions Animal Center as it expands its efforts to serve the local population of pets. “The shelter has developed a remarkable facility to assist animals not just within Coeur d'Alene but also in the surrounding areas. We are honored to play a part in its ongoing mission,” King remarked.
