Japanese Cochlear Corporation to Sponsor the 2nd World Deaf Baseball Cup in 2026

Japanese Cochlear Corporation's Significant Role in the 2nd World Deaf Baseball Cup

Japanese Cochlear Corporation, led by Executive Officer Shigehiro Kamonaka, has announced their sponsorship of the 2nd World Deaf Baseball Cup (WDBC) scheduled to take place from November 1 to 3, 2026, in Kanagawa, Japan. This marks a significant occasion as it is the first time this international event is being held in Japan, with around 200 athletes expected to participate from nine countries around the world. The inaugural WDBC held in Taiwan saw the Japanese representative team clinch the championship, raising anticipation for a potential consecutive victory in this upcoming tournament.

In a recent statement, Kamonaka expressed, “Following our support of the Tokyo Deaflympics last November, where many athletes using cochlear implants excelled, we resonated deeply with the WDBC’s mission of promoting international exchange through deaf baseball. We believe this event will serve as a valuable opportunity for further development of deaf baseball, expanding international connections, and raising awareness about hearing impairments. We will wholeheartedly support the passionate competitions of the athletes.”
