Elks National Foundation Awards Over $4.9 Million in Scholarships

In a remarkable display of commitment to education and community service, the Elks National Foundation has welcomed 900 students into its family, distributing more than $4.9 million in scholarships for the year. This initiative is a beacon of support for high school seniors who are ready to embark on their collegiate journey.

A Network of Support

Elks scholarships are not merely financial assistance; they offer students an entry into a community of service-oriented individuals. Each recipient of these scholarships finds more than just funds; they are embraced by an organization dedicated to making a difference in their lives and the world around them. The sense of belonging to the Elks family is reflected by the testimonials of past recipients, highlighting the lasting impact of this support network on their personal and professional growth.

Out of over 23,000 applicants for the Most Valuable Student scholarship, the top 20 scholars were awarded scholarships of $30,000 each, along with invitations to a special Leadership Weekend in Chicago, a rare opportunity to bond with fellow exemplary students and participate in enriching activities.

Celebrating Achievement and Leadership

During the 2026 MVS Leadership Weekend, scholars engaged in various activities designed to foster camaraderie and growth. They undertook a scavenger hunt at the famed Elks National Memorial, which is soon to mark its 100th anniversary. This environment allowed young leaders to connect, share experiences, and enhance their leadership skills through teamwork and service opportunities, integral to the mission of the Elks.

Emily Cai, a participant from Toccoa, Georgia, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "Leadership Weekend is one of my greatest memories. Meeting such inspiring individuals motivated me to strive for excellence. I'm excited for my future with the Elks family!"

In total, an impressive 480 runners-up were granted $4,000 each through the Most Valuable Student program, ensuring that many deserving students received the support they needed as they step into higher education.

Service and Community Engagement

The Elks believe strongly in the value of service, which is a cornerstone of their organization. As part of the Legacy Awards scholarship, which is specifically aimed at the children or grandchildren of Elks members, recipients must fulfill service requirements while they benefit from the $6,000 scholarship. The newly inducted scholars are expected to serve with an Elks Lodge three times throughout their scholarship term, fostering a sense of duty and community service that aligns with the Elks' core values.

Kelly Butler, a sponsored student from Haverstraw, New York, shared her thoughts, stating, "This award means a great deal to me and my family. Knowing that the Elks have invested in my future motivates me to continue working hard and striving toward my goals."
