Sigenergy Unveils Groundbreaking 20 MWh CI Storage Solution in Bulgaria
Sigenergy's Revolutionary 20 MWh Modular C&I Energy Storage Solution
In an engaging gathering of nearly 300 global energy professionals held in Burgas, Bulgaria, Sigenergy has recently unveiled its cutting-edge Modular Commercial and Industrial (C&I) energy storage solution. This event was marked by a significant visit to a landmark project featuring a robust 20 MWh energy storage system located in Malko Tarnovo, powered by Sigenergy’s advanced modular battery energy storage system (BESS). This innovative project exemplifies how next-generation storage technologies are scalable and impactful in real-world applications.
In collaboration with Trakia MT Ltd., a prominent Bulgarian solar firm, Sigenergy's system is strategically installed on a solar farm, integrating 90 CI hybrid inverters alongside the SigenStack modular storage solution. The harmony between the solar power generation and the storage sytems is pivotal in advancing energy efficiency within diverse industrial sectors.
Accelerating Clean Energy Transition
Tony Xu, Sigenergy's Founder and CEO, articulated the company's core mission: "To fast-track the global shift towards clean energy through innovative and scalable storage solutions." He further emphasized that this project exemplifies the immense potential of advanced battery systems in promoting business growth while supporting decarbonization efforts across various industries.
A Modular Approach to Energy Storage
The SigenStack system is a trailblazer in C&I energy storage, introducing a modular approach that replaces the need for bulky, containerized systems with stackable 12 kWh battery packs. This design promotes plug-and-play connectivity and tool-free installation, significantly reducing the complexity related to wiring and lifting equipment. Notably, the entire 20 MWh system was installed in a record time of just 10 days, with commissioning completed within an additional two days. Galina Peycheva-Miteva, the Owner of Trakia MT Ltd., expressed enthusiasm, stating, "The installation process was as simple as assembling building blocks, rather than deploying traditional industrial infrastructure. This modular design is a breakthrough for the C&I energy storage landscape."
Safety at the Core of Design
Safety is paramount in Sigenergy’s CI BESS solutions, which have established industry benchmarks through their innovative design. Central to this approach is the SigenStack system, engineered to prioritize safety at every level. Each 12 kWh battery pack is equipped with six layers of protective technology, including temperature sensors, internal fire suppression systems, aerogel insulation, decompression valves, and smoke detectors. This comprehensive safety architecture ensures early detection of thermal runaway, activating rapid and localized responses within seconds.
In stark contrast to traditional cabinet-style systems that often lack compartmentalization, the SigenStack significantly mitigates the risk of fire spread by effectively isolating incidents at the module level. The advanced inverter platform also includes superb anti-backflow protection and long-range arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) technology capable of recognizing faults from distances of up to 500 meters.
To validate its safety credentials, Sigenergy partnered with Intertek, a global assurance provider, to publish a CI Safety White Paper. The comprehensive results confirmed adherence to prominent safety standards, including UL 9540A and IEC 62619, while demonstrating structural stability under rigorous testing, and maintaining operational efficiency exceeding 95%.
Durable and Low-Maintenance Operations
The robust and modular design of Sigenergy's CI BESS is capable of supporting autonomous operations round the clock. Its IP66 rating ensures dust and water resistance, enhancing dependability under varying environmental conditions. Comparatively, traditional cabinet-style systems often incorporate fragile components that necessitate monthly checks, biannual part replacements, and exhaustive annual maintenance.
The introduction of real-time monitoring through a cloud-based platform provides comprehensive insights into system performance, energy throughput, and alert notifications, thereby considerably decreasing the frequency of required on-site inspections. Moreover, maintenance becomes streamlined with the ability to replace faulty battery packs individually within a mere two hours, without necessitating full system diagnostics or technician presence on-site. This efficiency noticeably minimizes downtime, optimizes spare part logistics, and ultimately reduces operational expenses.
The successful deployment of this project is a testament to Sigenergy's prowess in ensuring swift installation, safety assurance, operational reliability, and smart management practices. Looking toward the future, Sigenergy is steadfast in its commitment to broadening its global impact and fostering the adoption of safer, more efficient, and sustainable energy solutions on an international scale.
