DPR Construction Expands Leadership for Northwest Operations in 2025

DPR Construction, a leader in the building industry, has recently unveiled important leadership transitions designed to bolster its operations across the northwest United States and California's Bay Area. This strategic move comes as the company aims to meet the growing demand for technical building services and navigate the evolving trends within the industry.

Key Appointments

Jack Poindexter will step into the role of regional leader for DPR's Northwest area, which includes significant markets such as California’s Bay Area, Sacramento, and the Pacific Northwest business units. He will play a vital role on DPR's Leadership Team. The Bay Area Business Unit will now be co-led by Kevin Chen and Chris Strock, both of whom bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their new positions.

The trio embodies DPR's longstanding tradition of nurturing exceptional leadership transitions that are crucial for sustaining growth. Each leader is well-versed in DPR's five core markets, equipped with extensive experience in applying innovative strategies like virtual design and construction, prefabrication, and harnessing self-perform teams to provide unmatched value for clients.

Expertise and Experience

George Pfeffer, the CEO of DPR, expressed his admiration for the new leaders, stating, "I am continually inspired by the level of expertise and perseverance builders like Jack, Kevin, and Chris bring to DPR every day." He noted that the company stands at a pivotal juncture, where emerging trends are significantly reshaping the construction landscape and generating favorable outcomes for employees, clients, and the communities they serve.

Since joining DPR in 1999, Poindexter has demonstrated his capabilities in spearheading numerous projects throughout the United States, particularly in the Bay Area. His contributions include involvement in high-profile projects like the UCSF Medical Center Mission Bay and the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences. Recently, he has played a crucial role in scaling DPR's self-perform capabilities in areas such as concrete, drywall, and mass timber, thereby enhancing the company's regional presence.

"DPR started in this region. I’m honored to follow in the footsteps of those who laid the groundwork, and I look forward to opening a new chapter in DPR's legacy," Poindexter remarked, indicating that 2025 is set to be a defining year for the company's Northwest operations.

Future Initiatives

Alongside Poindexter, Chen and Strock are prepared to lead one of the Bay Area’s top contractors. Chen, who began as a Project Engineer in 2009, has a notable background in advanced technology campus projects, while Strock has accrued experience since 1998 in roles such as project manager and project executive. Together, their diverse skills will be key to tackling the challenges and projects affecting the Bay Area, particularly in terms of job site safety and project execution excellence.

The Northwest Region of DPR is home to nearly 1,200 skilled craft and administrative staff. To further strengthen its foothold, DPR is poised to open a new Silicon Valley office. This facility, measuring 113,702 sq. ft. and designed to be net-zero, will support DPR’s regional and corporate operations while featuring a Prefabrication Assembly Facility. The facility aims to serve projects along the West Coast and will operate as DPR's latest "Living Lab," showcasing innovative building methods and materials that can inspire customers.
