KEEN, the renowned outdoor footwear brand from Portland, Oregon, is set to open its second flagship store in Japan, "KEEN GARAGE FUTAKOTAMAGAWA," in Futakotamagawa, Setagaya, Tokyo, on October 10, 2025. This new store promises to be a harmonious blend between nature and urban life, perfectly reflecting KEEN's philosophy of outdoor exploration.

Since its inception in 2003, KEEN has redefined outdoor footwear by incorporating sustainable manufacturing practices while ensuring high performance and functionality. The Fun and vibrant atmosphere of Futakotamagawa, enhanced by the nearby Tama River, makes it an ideal location for showcasing KEEN's hybrid footwear designs.

Shop Design and Concept

The store features a unique two-story layout, dubbed "Garage & Factory," which is designed to encourage a relaxed shopping experience. The entrance includes an automated rotisserie display, and comfortable benches invite customers to take their time. Inside, aspects like reclaimed wood walls and botanical decorations create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

On the second floor, visitors will find a display inspired by the conveyor belt used in KEEN's manufacturing line in Thailand. The range includes sandals and shoes suited for daily wear, water activities, and trekking shoes designed for outdoor adventures. Additionally, the store offers a wide variety of men’s, women’s, and kids’ apparel and accessories, all produced with a commitment to reducing environmental impact.

Community Engagement and Events

In its effort to connect with the local community, KEEN GARAGE FUTAKOTAMAGAWA will host regular workshops, screenings, talk shows, and running events. The goal is to create a beloved space for residents of Futakotamagawa while promoting an outdoor lifestyle.

Exclusive Art Display

As part of the store's unique features, a striking graphic mural created by artist Adrian Hogan will adorn the wall next to the stairs leading to the second floor. Hogan, a talent from Melbourne, Australia, has included imagery of local wildlife, children playing along the riverbank, and iconic landmarks, including Mount Fuji. The mural not only represents the everyday scenery of Futakotamagawa but also embodies KEEN’s long-standing commitment known as the "KEEN EFFECT," making it relatable for children and ideal for social media photo ops.
