In an unprecedented collaboration, EV Genesis Co., Ltd., based in Shibuya, Tokyo, and T's Company, located in Hiroshima, have successfully developed the world’s first solar-powered mini tugboat. This groundbreaking vessel does not require a boating license, making it accessible to individuals of all ages, including children.

The Design and Features

The mini tugboat designed by T's Company features an impressive design and remarkable stability, even when accommodating four adults. One of its key innovations involves limiting the output of the outboard motor to just two horsepower, a strategic move that enables easy operation without the need for any boating credentials. Collaboration with EV Genesis

EV Genesis has played a crucial role in this project by transforming the power unit of the mini tugboat into an electric vehicle system. The power unit utilizes components from their solar EV three-wheeler, the Suriruota. This includes solar panels, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), high-capacity lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, and inverters. To enhance its longevity, particularly against corrosive saltwater environments, the battery case has been crafted from rust-resistant stainless steel. The LFP cells have also been specifically adapted for marine applications.
