ISFnet Shares Essential Strategies for Vulnerability Management in Free Security Seminar

ISFnet Empowers Security Professionals with Insights on Vulnerability Management

On May 16, 2026, ISFnet, headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, conducted an educational seminar titled "Understanding Monthly Vulnerabilities: MS Monthly Vulnerability Study Session". This free event was organized in collaboration with Heatwave Co., which runs a practical security school known as "Secujuku". During the seminar, ISFnet's security specialists took center stage to share invaluable knowledge on how to effectively respond to real-world vulnerabilities within IT infrastructures.

Background and Achievements of the Seminar

As cyber-attacks become increasingly sophisticated, it is vital for professionals in the IT infrastructure sector to possess a solid understanding of cybersecurity. The seminar was designed specifically for infrastructure engineers and security staff, aiming to clarify how to accurately assess vulnerabilities that truly matter in operational contexts.

A total of 99 participants attended the seminar, with 15 onsite and 84 joining online. The event was well-received, and the session featured Koji Nonoshita from ISFnet's Engineering Development Department. He provided insights into the recent updates on disclosed vulnerabilities and practical approaches for managing vulnerabilities related to Microsoft systems. A key focus was on encouraging participants not to simply trust vendor-specified severity levels or CVSS metrics. Instead, they discussed the need to evaluate the potential for exploitation comprehensively in order to assess the impact on their organizations properly. This approach aims not only to enhance response capabilities but also to alleviate the operational burdens typically faced in the field.

Feedback from Participants

After the seminar, an evaluation survey was conducted, revealing high levels of satisfaction among attendees, with many marking feedback as "very satisfied" or "satisfied." Questions during the Q&A session reflected a keen interest in practical applications, such as how AI can be harnessed for summarizing and collating vulnerability information for operational use.

Several comments from the surveys included:
  • - "The practical explanations and applicable know-how were greatly appreciated. I'd love to see this seminar continued on a regular basis."
  • - "I'm now motivated to better understand Microsoft’s security information before applying updates, something I've neglected until now."
  • - "I've learned new insights that expanded my knowledge – I’d greatly value more sessions like this one!"

Future Outlook

The success of this seminar and the high evaluation from participants have encouraged ISFnet to further utilize its practical security expertise for continued information dissemination. Plans to host ongoing workshops that cater to the demand for practical security training were mentioned, contributing to the development of skilled security personnel and enhancing the overall safety of IT infrastructure in society.
