Saisei Ventures Welcomes James Feliciano as New Venture Partner

Saisei Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on nurturing next-generation companies in healthcare, has recently appointed James Feliciano as its new Venture Partner. This significant addition to the team signals a bold step towards innovative approaches in the pharmaceutical industry, leveraging Feliciano's wealth of experience and knowledge.

James Feliciano has a remarkable track record in the pharmaceutical sector, with over 20 years of experience in leading roles. He has been pivotal in driving innovative treatment strategies and assembling successful global teams. Most recently, Feliciano established 3C Advisors GK, a strategic advisory firm based in Tokyo, collaborating with numerous organizations to tackle complex challenges in the Japanese market and deliver impactful results. Before founding 3C Advisors, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of AbbVie Japan, where he spearheaded strategic initiatives across multiple therapeutic areas, focusing on elevating performance in business operations and strategic planning. Additionally, during his tenure at Merck KGaA, Feliciano led the development and execution of extensive organizational strategies as the head of Merck's Japan operations. He also played a crucial role in establishing Japan's first vaccine division during the early days of his career with Pfizer, contributing to groundbreaking reimbursement policies for pediatric vaccines.

At Saisei Ventures, Feliciano will collaborate closely with portfolio company management teams, helping to shape development strategies and enhance the appeal of drug candidates to global pharmaceutical partners. His profound expertise in commercialization and market access during the late-stage development phases will be instrumental in presenting companies with the necessary factors for successful partnerships and market introduction from clinical, regulatory, and payer perspectives.

Jonathan Yeh, Managing Partner at Saisei Ventures, expressed his excitement about Feliciano's engagement, stating, "We wholeheartedly welcome Mr. Feliciano to Saisei Ventures. His expertise and insights into the Japanese pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, along with his proven ability to lead and execute strategies on a global scale, will bring immeasurable value in fostering next-generation biotechnology companies."

Feliciano holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hampden-Sydney College, a Master’s degree in Japanese Studies from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management. Beyond his professional achievements, Feliciano is deeply committed to talent development in the industry, serving as an Executive Coach certified by the International Coaching Federation and a member of the Marshall Goldsmith 100 Coaches, mentoring the next generation of leaders and expatriates in Japan.

Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Saisei Ventures during this pivotal moment in the biotechnology industry, Feliciano said, "I am incredibly excited to be part of Saisei Ventures at a time when the biotechnology sector is at a crossroads.
