Celebrating a Veteran's Journey

The celebration of HFOT's landmark 400th home featured Marine Lance Corporal Alberto Flores, a veteran whose journey epitomizes the challenges faced by many. After joining the military to provide for his family, Flores experienced the camaraderie that service offers. However, his life took a drastic turn on May 12, 2005, when an explosion in Ramadi, Iraq, resulted in the loss of his right leg above the knee due to severe injuries and infections.

Despite the challenges, Flores rebounded with determination and the support of a dedicated physical therapy team, equipping him with a prosthetic leg and assisting him as he regained the ability to walk. As HFOT continues its mission, commitments from partners like ACE Cash Express play a vital role in enabling more severely injured veterans to access the adapted homes they need and deserve.
