Woolpert Announces Neil Churman as New Chief Executive Officer

Woolpert Names Neil Churman as CEO

Woolpert, the prominent global architecture, engineering, and geospatial services firm, has recently appointed Neil Churman as its new Chief Executive Officer. Churman, who served as the company's President since early 2024, assumes this pivotal role following Scott Cattran's decade-long leadership.

Leadership Transition

Under Scott Cattran's guidance, Woolpert achieved remarkable growth, expanding from a workforce of around 600 to over 2,700 employees while increasing annual revenues from $97 million to more than $650 million. Cattran will step into the role of Executive Chairman, where he will continue to guide the company's strategy and lead its board of directors, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity in Woolpert's long-term vision and benefits for its employees.

Neil Churman joined Woolpert in 2022, shortly after being recruited by Cattran as the first Corporate Development Director. His leadership was paramount in successfully integrating five strategic acquisitions, which enhanced the company’s capacity and presence across the United States, Europe, and Australia. Notable during his tenure was the remarkable financial performance in 2024, marking the highest in the company's 114-year history.

A Vision for the Future

Churman holds a solid background in promoting strategic growth and operational excellence across various sectors, including architecture and geospatial services. His educational credentials include an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering. As he assumes his new responsibilities, he aims to uphold Woolpert's century-old legacy, committed to empowering clients and fostering an innovative workplace culture.

In his own words, Churman expressed, "I am honored to take on this role and humbled by the responsibility of continuing our legacy of support for vital programs for our clients. My commitment lies in strengthening our culture and ensuring we create an excellent workplace for all our team members worldwide."

Cattran's Contribution

Cattran reflected on his decade as CEO by stating, "When I took on the CEO role about ten years ago, we envisioned not only being a leading firm in our industry but one of the best companies in the world. Thanks to the dedication of every Woolpert employee, we are on an unprecedented trajectory to fulfill that vision." His belief in Churman as the perfect successor stems from his extensive experience with strategic acquisitions and a strong commitment to fostering a high-performance culture.
