Celebrate the 11th Anniversary with Special Motsunabe Deals
From May 18 to May 21, 2026, the popular Motsunabe restaurant, Otakufu, located in Meguro, Tokyo, will hold a special event to celebrate its 11th anniversary. For a limited time of four days, diners can enjoy a selection of the restaurant's signature Motsunabe dishes at an exceptional price.
Motsunabe, a delicious hot pot dish featuring offal, has been a mainstay at Otakufu, and this anniversary celebration marks a perfect opportunity to indulge in their acclaimed offerings. Originally priced at 1,480 yen, the traditional Hakata Motsunabe, Chikuho Shio Motsunabe, and Hakata Miso Motsunabe will be available for just 1,080 yen per serving.
In addition to the tasty Motsunabe, other beloved Kyushu delicacies will also be offered at reduced prices. Dishes such as Akami Basashi (horse sashimi) will drop from 850 yen to 650 yen, while Oita Tori Ten (fried chicken) will be available for 450 yen, down from 580 yen. Additional highlights include Goma Saba (sesame mackerel) for 350 yen instead of 480 yen, and grilled ramen—a local favorite—available for 650 yen instead of the regular 850 yen.
To complement the food, guests can enjoy refreshing drinks during this event. Both Otakufu Sour (plum-flavored) and the Otakufu Special Highball (Black Nikka Clear) will be offered at the incredible price of just 199 yen each, down from the usual 390 yen, making it an excellent chance to pair delightful beverages with the delicious fare.
Culinary Delights from Kyushu
At Otakufu, patrons can expect more than just Motsunabe. The establishment takes pride in using only high-quality domestic offal for its dishes. Fresh ingredients arrive directly from local suppliers, ensuring that each mouthful bursts with rich flavors. The Motsunabe features tender beef small intestine, centermost (center) part, and stomach lining, offering varied textures and tastes that are both satisfying and delicious.
Three different types of broth add to the culinary experience, allowing guests to choose between a classic soy sauce base, a rich chicken-pork broth that enhances the natural flavors, or a robust combination of miso for a deep and complex taste. Each of these broths is available for individual orders, enabling diners to explore their preferred flavors and enjoy the aromatic steaming pot right at their table.
When the meal reaches an end, the utmost delight awaits in the form of either a cozy 'ojicha' (rice porridge) or tasty champon noodles, both incorporating the flavors of the broth that has simmered throughout the meal.
A Cultural Feast
Those keen on exploring Kyushu's rich culinary traditions will find Otakufu a treasure trove of local specialties. Beyond Motsunabe, diners can savor a variety of regional dishes that showcase the essence of Kyushu’s food culture. Oita's soul food, Tori Ten, and Fukuoka's Goma Saba are just a few of the dishes that highlight the diversity and appeal of the region's cuisine.
Take advantage of this not-to-be-missed event and indulge in delicious Motsunabe and Kyushu specialties that are sure to energize you!
