Join the 2025 Virtual Summit on Sustainability in Dentistry
The FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) is thrilled to announce the upcoming third edition of its Virtual Summit on Sustainability in Dentistry, scheduled to take place from June 5 to June 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM EST / 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM CEST. This important event continues to serve as a global platform for knowledge exchange, real-world implementation strategies, and practical tools aimed at advancing sustainability within the dental profession.
Following the remarkable successes of the 2023 and 2024 summits, this year’s gathering is focused on equipping oral health professionals with concrete solutions and data-driven insights. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from sustainability leaders across the sector, explore inspirational case studies, and access new educational resources designed to translate environmental commitments into sustainable changes in practice.
Dr. Greg Chadwick, President of FDI, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are excited to host the Sustainability in Dentistry Summit once again. This year's program is particularly engaging, as we shift from theory to action. By providing concrete tools and resources, FDI is enabling oral health professionals globally to be part of the solution. Environmental sustainability is not just a goal; it’s a professional responsibility.”
Moreover, FDI remains deeply grateful to its founding partners—Dentsply Sirona, Haleon, and Sunstar—as well as its supporting partners, whose ongoing dedication and collaboration make this initiative possible. Their commitment continues to drive innovation and significant progress within our profession.
In 2025, FDI revealed several new resources under its sustainability project in dentistry. A second Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), titled
Tackling Common Challenges to Sustainable Dentistry, was launched earlier this year. This course goes beyond the basics by helping dental teams implement sustainable practices, addressing common barriers and offering practical strategies.
Additionally, FDI has created a series of educational materials aimed at academic institutions and training providers. This content is designed to support curriculum integration and institutional change, equipping the next generation of dental professionals with the knowledge and values necessary to advocate for environmental responsibility.
Since launching the Sustainability in Dentistry Project in 2021, FDI has highlighted the innovative efforts of its global network of national dental associations, academic institutions, and private practices. Initiatives such as the Sustainability Toolkit, Pledge for Sustainable Oral Healthcare, and Sustainability Awards continue to gain momentum, while strategic partnerships with industry leaders ensure long-term impact.
Join us on June 5 and June 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM EST / 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM CEST, for the Virtual Summit on Sustainability in Dentistry and be part of the movement aiming to enhance the environmental impact of the dental profession worldwide.
