Kyoritsu Seiyaku Unveils New R&D Facility

Kyoritsu Seiyaku Co., Ltd., headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is taking a significant step in bolstering its research capabilities with a new research and development building at its Tsukuba location. This state-of-the-art facility is set to officially open in February 2026, marking a key milestone in the company’s commitment to enhancing its manufacturing base and meeting evolving biosecurity challenges.

Background and Purpose of the New Facility

To strengthen its product development capabilities, Kyoritsu Seiyaku recognized the need for expanded research equipment and additional personnel. Previously, the company’s research facilities were scattered across the site, which did not provide an optimal environment for effective development work. The new building, therefore, aims to consolidate these functions, enhancing product development capabilities and creating a flexible environment that can adjust to future domestic and international health risk changes.

Moreover, similar to the health center completed in June 2025, this new facility is designed to foster interdepartmental information sharing and communication while enhancing the work environment for employees. The ultimate goal is to innovate new products and improve existing ones.

Key Features of the New Research Building

  • - Versatile Space Design for Various Tests: The layout offers designated areas for specific testing, allowing multiple tests to be conducted simultaneously. Some laboratories will incorporate flexible designs to facilitate future modifications, optimizing overall facility utilization and efficiency.

  • - Environmental Considerations: To minimize disturbances to the surrounding residential community, the new building will implement appropriate structural designs and equipment to mitigate noise and odor during operations, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for local residents.

  • - Promoting Collaboration with Open Office Space: By consolidating operations into a shared space, the facility will enhance operational efficiency, while the open office layout encourages collaboration in product research and development. This design will allow the company to adapt more agilely to changes in research and development needs moving forward.
