Event Overview


A vital opportunity for those interested in mastering the manufacturing techniques of lithium-ion batteries is coming up. From October 5 to October 9, 2026, the Battery Technology Training Course will be hosted at STL Japan's facility in Okayama Prefecture. This immersive program is designed for individuals currently engaged in R&D for battery technology.

Organized by CMC Research, the course will focus on applied techniques in lithium-ion battery production, particularly emphasizing nickel-cobalt-manganese oxide positive electrodes and graphite/silicon-based negative electrodes. Over the course of five days, participants will gain practical experience directly on the factory floor, learning methods that bridge laboratory research with large-scale production.

The training course will be facilitated by a team of distinguished experts in battery technology, including:
  • - Junichi Ogawa: Formerly of Sony, a renowned figure in lithium-ion battery development

Day 1: October 5


  • - 12:30: Pickup at Tsuyama Station
  • - 1:00 PM: Lecture on battery design and manufacturing techniques
  • - 15:00: Practical session on negative electrode slurry adjustments
  • - 18:00: Networking dinner at Tsuyama Station

Day 2: October 6


  • - 08:30: Depart from Tsuyama Station
  • - 09:00 to 17:30: Hands-on experience with negative electrode coating

Day 3: October 7


  • - 08:30: Depart from Tsuyama Station
  • - 09:00 to 17:30: Engaging in positive electrode coating and pressing techniques

Day 4: October 8


  • - 08:30: Depart from Tsuyama Station
  • - 09:00 to 17:30: Electrode slitting, layering, and welding sessions

Day 5: October 9


  • - 08:30: Depart from Tsuyama Station
  • - 09:00 to 17:00: Electrolyte injection and cell assembly processes with Q&A session

Registration Details


The course fee is set at 550,000 yen, which covers transportation from Tsuyama Station, lunches, and networking event expenses. Accommodation costs are separate. Registration is limited to 6 participants, with a minimum of 4 to proceed. The deadline for applications is September 28, 2026, or until the class fills.
