Aoba Japan International School's 50th Anniversary Celebration
This year marks a significant milestone for Aoba Japan International School (A-JIS) as it celebrates its 50th anniversary since its foundation in 1976. To commemorate this half-century of excellence in education, A-JIS is thrilled to announce an all-English production of the Broadway classic,
'Anything Goes (Youth Edition)', to be held from
July 19 to August 1, 2026, at the Bunkyo campus.
Overview of the Musical Program
The summer program culminates in a full-fledged production during which students—both enrolled and external—will engage in a 12-day immersive experience centered around the renowned musical comedy set on a luxurious 1930s ocean liner. This dynamic opportunity is designed to enhance not only students' English skills but also their artistic talents, as they embark on a theatrical journey requiring tap dance, jazz, acting, and harmonization.
Professional Guidance
A-JIS has enlisted professional educators and seasoned artists to guide students throughout the program. Participants will receive specialized instruction in dance, acting, and vocal performance, ensuring a rounded and comprehensive theatrical experience. The program aims to offer more than just basic summer school lessons; it provides a deep dive into the laborious yet rewarding processes of theater production, complete with professional-grade lighting, stage setups, and costumes.
Grand Finale Performance
The final day will feature a fully staged performance at
Jassy Hall, where students will showcase what they have learned and created. This moment will be transformative, giving participants a chance to shine under real theater conditions—fully equipped with lighting, sound, and costumes. Such experiences are invaluable, instilling life-long confidence in the performers.
Development Beyond Performance
Beyond just acting and singing, this summer program aims to nurture essential skills such as
expression,
leadership, and
teamwork. All throughout the 12 days, students will work collaboratively, emphasizing the importance of working as a cohesive unit to bring a single production to life, all while fostering individual creativity.
