JA SOLAR and Borussia Dortmund Collaborate on a Groundbreaking Solar Initiative

This partnership marks a significant milestone as they embark on a project to install a cutting-edge photovoltaic system on the roof of SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, which is renowned for hosting the highest average number of spectators per match in European football.

This project will install over 11,000 high-efficiency Full-Black modules from JA SOLAR on the stadium's roof. This innovative design not only aligns with Borussia Dortmund's iconic colors of black and yellow but also enhances the stadium's aesthetic appeal. The rooftop installation is anticipated to generate more than four GWh of electricity annually, significantly contributing to Borussia Dortmund’s own energy consumption needs.

Furthermore, the project aims to reduce the club's CO2 emissions by approximately 1,800 tons per year, bolstering the overall energy resilience and security of Borussia Dortmund. This sustainable approach ensures that the stadium will be equipped to operate its lighting system for up to 1,000 matches purely on solar energy from this advanced installation.
