MIO HARUTAKA Jewelry Event at Michelin-Starred Restaurant Kukuku

MIO HARUTAKA's Exclusive Jewelry Event at Kukuku

The renowned jewelry brand MIO HARUTAKA recently hosted an exclusive event for its customers at Kukuku, a Michelin-listed tea room located in Minato, Tokyo. This special event took place on February 12 and 13, 2026, and featured a remarkable display of MIO HARUTAKA's exquisite jewelry designs that will be showcased until February 19, 2026.

The event was organized by Harapeko Co., Ltd. under the leadership of CEO Miya Motomi, who created a unique atmosphere within Kukuku’s elegant setting. A special treat was also offered to customers who reserved a space at the tea room: collaboration nerikiri (a traditional Japanese sweet) inspired by MIO HARUTAKA's jewelry designs.

About MIO HARUTAKA

Founded by creative director Mio Harutaka, the brand embodies a philosophy centered on creating jewelry that is genuinely desired by its wearer. The collections are designed to be worn daily while maintaining an air of casual elegance. Each piece features simple yet charming designs that appeal to sophisticated women who appreciate quality craftsmanship. MIO HARUTAKA has quickly gained a devoted following due to its unique aesthetic that blends playfulness with fine artistry.

During an interview with the founder, Harutaka described her first impression of the tea room, saying, “When I first visited, I thought it was a splendid tea room. The concept of serving tea in an outdoor setting allowed me to feel the spirit of Sen no Rikyū's era. The blending of historical elements with modern artworks like Andy Warhol's 'Flower' made Kukuku a fascinating space to work in. Normally, wearing jewelry in a tea room is prohibited, but I felt that this very mismatch could open up new possibilities.”

Reactions to the Event

The interaction with customers during the event brought immense joy to Harutaka. “I was thrilled to see the positive reactions from our guests. Aside from the main display, we strategically placed different jewelry pieces throughout the space, which turned into a delightful treasure hunt for our visitors,” she reflected. Harutaka emphasized the warmth and vibrancy that emerge from shared experiences, stating that the energy created in the same space is remarkably special.

The Experience of the Tea Room

Discussing the unique atmosphere of hosting an event in a tea room, Harutaka shared, “The tea room has a traditional structure, which requires guests to remove their jewelry before entering, something I deeply respect. However, this event invited guests to wear their jewelry freely, encouraging a relaxed atmosphere while respecting the space's history. Instead of contrasting tea culture with jewelry, we showcased them coexisting beautifully.” She believes this fusion allowed guests to appreciate beauty in a more natural and inviting environment.

The Crafted Nerikiri

The collaboration nerikiri shaped around MIO HARUTAKA’s jewelry was equally impressive. Harutaka remarked, “It was genuinely wonderful. Instead of just replicating shapes, the nerikiri beautifully captured the essence of our designs, eliciting applause from the guests.”

A Unique Collaboration

Through this collaboration, both Harutaka and the Kukuku tea room discovered new layers to their respective crafts. “The juxtaposition of tea art and jewelry, which seem so different at first glance, birthed a new perspective that allows for a deeper experience of Japanese aesthetics,” she concluded. “It was an engaging way to celebrate and share two art forms that respect nature.”

Special Display Details

To commemorate the collaboration between MIO HARUTAKA and Kukuku, the jewelry is being specially displayed until February 19, 2026. Customers with prior reservations can admire this exclusive showcase. Details of the special exhibition highlight a range of stunning pieces, including:
