Together for a Safer Future
In an era when young people face numerous pressures, making informed choices is crucial. In recognition of this,
Amica Insurance has teamed up with
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to bolster teen safety through education and community initiatives. This partnership emphasizes the importance of wise choices and proactive prevention.
Every year, underage drinking leads to over 4,300 deaths in the United States, a stark reminder of the challenges kids face today. Through their collective efforts, Amica and MADD aim to engage middle and high school students nationwide with a powerful message:
Your choices matter. The
Power of You(th) initiative serves as a platform for delivering this critical message.
This collaboration goes beyond mere sponsorship; it embodies a sincere commitment to saving lives. By investing in MADD's research-driven programs and outreach efforts, Amica helps equip teenagers with the knowledge and confidence necessary to refuse alcohol and drugs, as well as to avoid riding with impaired drivers. Catrina Clemens, MADD's Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, remarked, "We appreciate Amica's commitment to this life-saving cause. Since 2020, their support has reinforced the belief in prevention, safety, and the positive impact youth can make."
The partnership has paved the way for a variety of educational initiatives. From direct school presentations to peer-driven educational programs and nationwide campaigns promoting youth involvement, Amica and MADD are empowering teenagers to take ownership of their decisions and positively influence their communities. Recent findings from the
2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey reflect a notable decline in high school students admitting to riding with drivers who have been drinking, decreasing from approximately 16% to 11%. This positive trend suggests that ongoing education and prevention efforts, such as those provided through the Power of You(th)® initiative, are making a significant impact.
"At Amica, we are committed to fostering the well-being of our communities, with youth safety being our top priority," stated Ted Shallcross, President and CEO of Amica Insurance. "Our enduring partnership with MADD exemplifies this commitment. We are proud to support their essential work, equipping teens with the necessary tools to confront risky behaviors and forge a safer future for everyone."
Since its inception 13 years ago, MADD's
Power of You(th) program has reached more than a million young people across the United States. For additional details about the program, visit
