CGI Federal Awarded Contract to Enhance GSA's Financial Management System Using Innovative Technology

CGI Federal Awarded $251 Million Contract for GSA Financial Management Modernization

CGI Federal Inc., a prominent provider of technology services to government entities, has recently announced that it has been awarded a substantial contract worth $251 million by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). This contract is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade and modernize the financial management operations of the GSA, which will help in streamlining processes and reducing costs. The modernization aims to enhance efficiency within the federal financial management landscape.

The GSA oversees important aspects of government operations, and CGI Federal's solution will utilize its well-regarded Momentum® platform alongside resources hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The primary goal is to bolster financial operations not only for GSA but also for 36 other federal agencies, ensuring secure financial management systems that comply with standards set by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

One of the highlights of this initiative is the completion of the migration of the Pegasys financial management system to the AWS platform, which occurred in 2025. This transition brought about operational improvements, including a notable reduction in hosting costs by approximately 25% and enhanced batch processing performance by as much as 50%. Furthermore, these technological advancements are paving the way for increased utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, which are crucial in advancing operational efficiencies and supporting broader workforce optimization initiatives.

Among the critical programs initiated by the GSA is the 'Million Hours Challenge,' which encourages the reduction of manual tasks through AI-enhanced methods. This challenge underscores CGI Federal's commitment to transforming how agencies operate by driving down manual workloads and enhancing productivity.

“CGI Federal is thrilled to support the GSA in refining its financial management systems,” stated Jay Hadley, Senior Vice President and Business Unit Leader for Regulatory Agency Programs at CGI Federal. His comments reflect a dedication to delivering robust, adaptable solutions that respond to evolving governmental needs. The focus is not only on efficiency but also on ensuring transparency and service quality across various agencies handling federal funds.

Under the terms of the contract, CGI Federal will maintain Pegasys and the Multi-Tenant Shared Application (MSA) in a FedRAMP Moderate compliance environment. This will adhere to strict security requirements and allows the implementation of a Momentum-as-a-Service (MaaS) subscription model that bundles software licensing with managed services. This comprehensive approach offers clients clear, predictable costs while granting access to additional features like virtual assistants and AI-driven data insights.

CGI Federal operates with nearly 8,000 professionals dedicated to delivering innovative technology solutions across various sectors, including defense and healthcare. The company's forward-thinking approach aims at enhancing government functionality and supporting agencies in achieving their objectives through effective technology solutions.

Through this partnership with the GSA, CGI Federal showcases its commitment to enhancing the federal government's financial management capabilities and reshaping how these essential services are delivered to the public. As modern challenges evolve, such endeavors become increasingly crucial to maintaining a responsive government structure, ultimately fostering integrity and efficiency in public service.
