Eustyle Care's Commitment to ALS Patients Marks World ALS Day

Eustyle Care's Commitment to ALS Patients

On June 21st, the world observes ALS Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and supporting those affected by this progressive neurodegenerative disease. Eustyle Lab, a leading provider of intensive home care services in Japan, proudly announces its significant impact in the ALS community over the years. Since launching its services in 2014, Eustyle Care has logged a remarkable total of over 3.6 million hours of care for more than 690 ALS patients, with nearly 600,000 instances of service delivered by a dedicated team of nearly 5,400 caregivers.

Eustyle Care's Unique Approach

Eustyle Care prides itself on its exceptional quality of service, which is evident in its three key features:

1. Medical Care Competence: All caregivers at Eustyle are trained to perform necessary medical procedures such as suctioning and tube feeding, which allows them to provide consistent, round-the-clock support. The company operates 36 training schools nationwide to ensure that caregivers acquire the skills required for specialized medical care.

2. Nationwide Service: Eustyle Care operates approximately 100 intensive home care offices across 39 prefectures, further expanding its reach through franchise operations. With over 6,000 service users since the initiative began, Eustyle Care has amassed a wealth of expertise catering to individuals with severe disabilities and illnesses.

3. Expertise in ALS Care: With the largest record of providing services to ALS patients in Japan, Eustyle Care has developed a system of personalized communication methods, allowing caregivers to interact with clients who cannot speak due to their condition, employing eye-tracking devices and communication boards.

Despite the advancements made in home care services since the- enactment of the Comprehensive Support for Persons with Disabilities Act in 2014, the field of medical and welfare services still faces challenges in terms of awareness and the availability of specialized staff.

Addressing the Shortage of Care Personnel

The shortage of trained personnel is a pressing issue in the healthcare sector. Eustyle Lab is actively working to combat this by training over 3,000 caregivers annually across its nationwide schools. Each of its approximately 5,400 caregivers in Japan is trained to provide a full range of medical support, following a rigorous curriculum that combines both foundational and additional training.

Additionally, Eustyle has initiated partnerships with healthcare institutions to bolster the training of specialized caregivers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver the high level of care necessary for individuals with severe conditions like ALS. These partnerships allow for hands-on training in real-world settings, critical for the skill development of new caregivers.

Real-Life Impacts of Eustyle Care

Through personalized service, Eustyle Care has transformed the lives of ALS patients and their families. For example, a 30-something male ALS patient, initially struggling due to his condition, has been able to enjoy family outings and leisure activities thanks to the long-term support of Eustyle caregivers. His family has reported regaining quality time together, moving beyond the constraints of caregiving.

Similarly, a 40-year-old female ALS patient who once thought she would never return to her home after surgery has successfully reunited with her family. Eustyle's intervention and effective communication with her medical team led to her discharge from the hospital, allowing her to reclaim her home life.

A Message from Eustyle Care’s Management

On this World ALS Day, Sato Hiromi, General Manager of Eustyle Care's Intensive Home Care Service, expressed heartfelt appreciation for those living with ALS, their families, and the dedicated caregivers. She emphasized the importance of maintaining dignity and supporting individuals to lead fulfilling lives, reinforcing Eustyle Care's mission to deliver the necessary support for ALS patients and their families.

Eustyle Care remains committed to enhancing social awareness surrounding ALS and advocates for ongoing research. With over 24-hour medical care, Eustyle aims to empower ALS patients to live as autonomously as possible in their own homes.
