Kakuyasu Joins Sapporo Beer in Supporting Hop Producers

Kakuyasu Partners with Sapporo Beer to Aid Hop Producers

Kakuyasu Co., Ltd., the subsidiary of Hitomairu Corporation based in Kita-ku, Tokyo, has announced its support for Sapporo Beer Co.’s initiative titled "SORACHI 1984 x Hop Production Support Project". This program is set to run from May 1 to May 31, 2026, and aims to aid hop producers by donating 5 yen for every can of "Sapporo SORACHI 1984" sold through Kakuyasu's stores, delivery service, and online shopping platform.

Commitment to a Sustainable Alcohol Industry

The hop production landscape is currently facing significant challenges, including labor shortages, excessive manual labor, and a declining workforce due to a lack of succession in the industry. Ensuring a reliable workforce during the harvest season is critical for maintaining domestic hop production. Kakuyasu believes that supporting hop producers is essential for providing consumers with quality beverages. The company sees it as its mission to enhance the sustainability of the alcohol industry, focusing on helping hop producers in Kamifurano and Tohoku regions through this initiative.

Product Introduction: Sapporo SORACHI 1984

"Sapporo SORACHI 1984" is a beer crafted using 100% of the legendary Sorachi Ace hops developed by Sapporo Beer in 1984. This unique beer is celebrated by brewers worldwide for its refreshing aroma reminiscent of hinoki (Japanese cypress) and lemongrass. Sapporo Beer envisions a future where they can produce "SORACHI 1984" entirely from domestically grown Sorachi Ace hops, encouraging drinkers to explore new ways to enjoy beer by selecting hops.

While the product contains a majority of American Sorachi Ace hops, a portion does include locally sourced hops from Kamifurano and Tohoku, emphasizing Sapporo's commitment to supporting local agriculture.
