Las Vegas Sands Invests $250,000 to Enhance Health and Education Services in Asian Community
Las Vegas Sands Invests in Community Health and Education
Las Vegas Sands Corp. has made a significant contribution of $250,000 through its Sands Cares global community engagement program to the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC). This funding will support crucial initiatives such as the Healthy Asian Pacific Islanders (HAPI) Medical Center, API Language Link, and programs aimed at preparing youth for college and vocational paths.
The need for support in these areas is critical. Sands has history with ACDC, having previously backed the launch of the Language Link service in 2021 and the opening of the HAPI Medical Center in 2022. This latest donation underlines Sands' continued commitment to these essential programs, especially in light of the growing challenges faced by the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.
Vida Lin, the president and founder of ACDC, expressed gratitude for Sands’ contributions, noting the importance of understanding the unique needs of the community. She highlighted how the collaborative effort between ACDC and Sands aims to address health disparities and support youth mentorship to pave the way for successful futures.
Comprehensive Health Care Services
The HAPI Medical Center, a cornerstone of ACDC's offerings, provides culturally sensitive health care, which includes urgent care, chronic disease management, preventative care, physical examinations, and free medical days for those in need. The center’s commitment to serving primarily uninsured or underinsured patients is evident through initiatives like weekly health care events offering free medical services, mammogram screenings, and vaccinations.
With Sands Cares backing the API Language Link, the HAPI Medical Center is equipped with a fully bilingual staff, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care without facing language barriers. This service ultimately enriches the health care experience for the Asian American and Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community.
Educational and Vocational Programs
The donation also reaches into ACDC's educational initiatives. This includes the College Readiness Bootcamp held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, which aims to inform students and their families about the benefits of higher education and scholarships available. Furthermore, ACDC hosts an annual event called
