In a strategic move to enhance its healthcare delivery system, BayCare Health System has officially appointed Emilie Davis, PA-C, as its inaugural vice president of advanced practice providers (APPs). This significant decision underscores the vital role that APPs play in the evolving healthcare landscape and the increasing demand for qualified professionals in this field.

Davis will oversee a diverse group of over 1,870 APPs, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical nurse specialists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, certified anesthesia assistants, and certified nurse midwives. Her leadership aims to not only support but also expand the capabilities of this workforce, ensuring BayCare can continue to meet the growing healthcare needs of West Central Florida residents.

A Growing Responsibility

As the demand for healthcare services escalates, the importance of APPs in managing patient care cannot be overstated. These professionals already serve a range of settings within the BayCare system, from hospitals and surgical centers to outpatient clinics. Davis’s role will involve collaborating closely with physicians and other system leaders to refine and improve the care delivery model. Impressive Background

Davis joins BayCare with over a decade of substantial healthcare leadership experience. Prior to her new role, she served as the vice president of APPs at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, where she provided strategic guidance and operational leadership for a similar number of APPs. During her tenure, she spearheaded initiatives that significantly increased the retention and recruitment of full-time APPs, fostering a culture of collaboration and open communication.
