William Duff Architects (WDA) has announced the appointment of Patrick Kruger as the new head of its Hospitality Practice. Bringing with him over 30 years of experience in hospitality design, Patrick's vast knowledge and impressive track record promise to enhance WDA's commitment to excellence in the hospitality sector.

In his new role, Patrick will work closely with Managing Principal William Duff and Associate Principal Jonathan Tsurui to strategically drive the growth of WDA’s hospitality offerings, focusing particularly on boutique hospitality and resort lodging. This initiative builds on WDA’s established proficiency in designing dynamic environments for restaurants, wineries, and various hospitality destinations including airport lounges. Patrick holds an exemplary portfolio that includes work with renowned firms such as Michael Graves and WATG, which further reinforces his capability to lead this important practice.

Patrick is known for his global perspective in design, having worked on numerous high-profile projects around the world. Some of his notable past achievements include the design of luxury locations like the Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas, The Lodge at Torrey Pines, and the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. His extensive expertise is poised to elevate WDA's already robust hospitality portfolio, which showcases established brands in aviation like Alaska Airlines, Air France, and British Airways, alongside prominent dining concepts such as Isabel Marant and Back of the House.

“Joining WDA is a privilege,” said Kruger. “The firm is recognized for an unparalleled commitment to innovation and design quality, which aligns seamlessly with my own professional values. I am eager to contribute to the growth of the hospitality practice, bringing fresh perspectives that can elevate our projects and client offerings.”

William Duff, Founder and Managing Principal of WDA, expressed his enthusiasm for Patrick's addition to the team, stating, “Patrick brings a new level of experience and insight into our Hospitality Practice. He fits our culture perfectly, and his talents will enable us to expand our unique approach to design, setting a new standard for boutique hospitality and resort projects.”

Founded in 1998 and based in San Francisco, William Duff Architects draws inspiration from the unique landscapes and values of Northern California to enhance their work. Under Patrick's leadership, the firm is set to continue its tradition of fostering creativity, collaboration, and exceptional design in the hospitality sector.

As WDA embraces this new chapter, the team looks forward to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in hospitality design under Patrick Kruger’s experienced guidance.
