Instalimb Selected for Tokyo's Global Startup Support Program "SusHi Tech Global"

Instalimb: Pioneering 3D Printed Prosthetics

Instalimb, a Tokyo-based startup, has recently been chosen to participate in the fourth iteration of Tokyo's global startup support initiative, "SusHi Tech Global." This program aims to empower startups that integrate sustainable technology with innovative growth strategies to transform society and facilitate global expansion.

A Vision for Accessibility

Founded in 2017 and coming into prominence with the world's first practical application of AI-driven 3D printed prosthetics, Instalimb focuses on addressing the critical shortage of prosthetic devices worldwide, particularly in the Global South, including countries like India and the Philippines. The CEO, Yasushi Tokushima, emphasizes a vision where everyone in need can access high-quality prosthetics, transcending the limitations of traditional delivery methods that often restrict access to urban areas or specialist facilities.

The collaboration through the "SusHi Tech Global" program will enable Instalimb to enhance its existing international operations and develop a franchise model in third countries. Additionally, the company plans to leverage smartphone scanning technology for remote provision of prosthetics, thus reaching individuals in underserved areas.

Understanding "SusHi Tech Global"

The "SusHi Tech Global" initiative, launched as a crucial part of Tokyo’s Global Innovation Strategy 2.0, commits to integrative support for startups that tackle global challenges with scalable tech solutions. Since its inception, the program has welcomed 94 companies, including Instalimb, which printed its first prosthetics in the Philippines and India.

Supported by a robust growth acceleration program that includes financial backing of up to 200 million yen, Instalimb is set to explore new markets by utilizing its accumulated knowledge of direct-to-consumer sales, digital manufacturing, and local operations.

Current and Future Endeavors

Instalimb has already produced over 9,000 prosthetics deployed in the Philippines and India, with the potential to scale further using their proprietary 3D printing technology that dramatically reduces costs and increases production efficiency. In a traditional setup, producing high-quality prosthetics can be cost-prohibitive, leaving many without the essential support they need.

The upcoming expansion will also include implementation of a remote service model that leverages advanced smartphone technology, enabling clients in distant locations to receive prosthetics without needing to travel to specialized clinics. This shift in model not only aims to increase accessibility but also to create a new, global supply infrastructure for quality prosthetics.

As Instalimb continues to forge ahead, it remains focused on its mission to ensure that everyone has access to the quality prosthetic solutions they deserve, continuing to challenge conventional limitations in the prosthetics supply chain.

Conclusion

With its integration into the "SusHi Tech Global" program, Instalimb is poised to revolutionize the prosthetics landscape, with aspirations to redefine accessibility and quality in the industry. As it expands its reach and capabilities, Instalimb remains committed to crafting a more inclusive and supportive world for prosthetic users everywhere.
