Saxony-Anhalt at Semicon West: A Hub of High-Tech Innovation

Saxony-Anhalt at Semicon West 2025: Showcasing High-Tech Innovations

From October 7 to 9, 2025, Saxony-Anhalt will proudly represent itself at Semicon West in Phoenix, USA, under the banner "Saxony-Anhalt. Leading High-Tech Innovations in Europe." This participation is a continuation of their successful showcase in 2024, reinforcing the state's status as a prime location for investment and innovation in Europe.

A Gateway to European Markets

Saxony-Anhalt is not just a picturesque region; it is rapidly becoming a powerhouse for high-tech industries. The state's participation in Semicon West will highlight several key aspects:
1. Investment Destination: The state hosts Europe's largest investment site—High-Tech Park—spanning 1,100 hectares and dedicated to semiconductor and high-tech projects.
2. Quality of Life: Saxony-Anhalt offers an attractive living environment with cultural heritage and recreational opportunities, making it appealing for professionals and their families.
3. Talent Hub: The state promotes its workforce through the "Germany's Hidden Champion" talent campaign, which aims to draw skilled professionals to the region.

Recent Major Investments

The attractiveness of Saxony-Anhalt is evident from the significant investments from various major companies in recent years:
  • - Avnet, a leading U.S. technology distributor, is investing over €225 million in a state-of-the-art logistics center in Bernburg (Saale), which will create up to 700 jobs and ship approximately 19,000 packages daily starting in March 2026.
  • - Ferroelectric Memory Company (FMC), a spin-off from TU Dresden, plans to build a €3 billion memory chip factory in Sülzetal, supported by public funding. This facility aims to restore critical memory chip production capacity that Europe lost after Qimonda's closure in 2009.
  • - Irish engineering firm Mercury is launching an engineering center in Schönebeck (Elbe) dedicated to semiconductor and data center industries, with an initial investment of €25 million.
  • - Daimler Truck is making a significant investment of €500 million in its new Global Parts Center in Halberstadt, which will cover 260,000 m² and create over 650 jobs, featuring one of Europe’s largest photovoltaic systems on its roof.

Strengthening Global Position in High-Tech

Sven Schulze, the Minister for Economic Affairs, emphasizes Saxony-Anhalt's growing role in the international semiconductor and high-tech value chain. He states, "With our clear focus on investors, skilled professionals, and unique infrastructure, we offer optimal conditions for companies to innovate. Our presence at Semicon West sends a definitive message: those looking to expand in Europe will find Saxony-Anhalt to be the right partner."

This year’s Semicon West marks another step in Saxony-Anhalt's trajectory toward becoming a premier hub for high-tech investments. As the region continues to grow and develop, it attracts both local and international firms seeking to benefit from its favorable investment landscape and robust talent pool.

Saxony-Anhalt is indeed a region on the rise, and its engagement at Semicon West is a testament to its commitment to becoming a central player in the global high-tech arena.
