Report on the Enthralling Teppanyaki Party Event
On January 18th, 2026, Infomart Inc., located in Minato, Tokyo, co-hosted an exciting educational event called the "Fantastic Teppanyaki Party" alongside the Kando Kodomo Association, a non-profit organization based in Shinjuku, Tokyo. This initiative aimed to teach twelve children about the charm of unconventional vegetables while allowing them to experience the joy of running a small business by selling the dishes they prepared. This article delves into the key highlights and insights from this impactful event.
Background of the Co-hosting Event
Founded in 1998, Infomart has played an instrumental role in the food industry, advancing sustainable growth within the sector through collaborative relationships. Our corporate philosophy emphasizes creating businesses that contribute positively to society and foster growth for both individuals and companies. Through our BtoB platform, we’ve focused on enhancing efficiency and sustainable practices in the food sector.
The Kando Kodomo Association operates the “Kando Kodomo Shokudo” (Children’s Dining Hall), which aims to provide essential nutrition while equipping children with the skills necessary to thrive in society as they grow. This unique establishment offers daily meals coupled with social and community engagement, and has been supported by Infomart since 2014. For the third iteration of our collaborative event, we utilized our extensive network within the food industry to source ten varieties of winter vegetables, such as radishes and pumpkins, from the Japan Vegetable Association, providing children with a hands-on learning experience related to food waste and sustainable food practices.
Event Program
1. Learning About Food Circulation
The theme revolved around how vegetables journey from the farm to the store and spotlighted unconventional vegetables. Engaging quiz formats were employed to pique the children's interest, such as asking them to identify Japan's most commonly harvested vegetable and the extent of food waste. Their enthusiastic participation demonstrated their eagerness to learn about food and agriculture.
2. Cooking Experience with Ten Types of Winter Vegetables
The participants utilized various vegetables, focusing on unconventional ones like onions, cabbage, and potatoes, to prepare homemade sauces and cook teppanyaki-style dishes. Emphasizing the intrinsic flavors over superficial appearances instilled an appreciation for the natural goodness of food.
3. Business Experience with Unique "Shokudo Money"
The children sold their self-prepared teppanyaki dishes to the event staff using the unique currency of the Kando Kodomo Shokudo, known as "Shokudo Money." Following the event’s guiding principles, they learned to greet customers energetically and handle tasks independently, making their business operation experience both educational and enjoyable.
At the end of the event, everyone gathered to savor the teppanyaki. Many participants shared delightful feedback, expressing their joy in cooking for the first time and appreciating the lessons learned about unconventional vegetables.
