Aker Solutions Secures Major Five-Year MMO Contract with Aker BP



Aker Solutions recently announced the award of a substantial five-year contract with Aker BP, focusing on Maintenance, Modification, and Operation (MMO) services. This agreement will encompass all vital assets of Aker BP located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, including the newly developed Yggdrasil area. The contract signifies a crucial step in transforming the approach toward offshore operations by integrating advanced technology and innovative practices.

The agreement not only solidifies Aker Solutions' presence in the Norwegian energy market but also offers the possibility of two additional four-year extensions starting from March 1, 2026. This potential extension underlines the long-term commitment both companies share towards enhancing operational efficiency and productivity in the region.

The extensive scope of work will be executed in line with the next-generation MMO alliance, focused on key areas like Valhall, Fenris, Ula, EIGA, Skarv, and Alvheim, in addition to the Yggdrasil area. The alliance is designed to elevate standards of project execution and delivery through the integration of new digital solutions and AI-driven methodologies. This ambitious framework aims to fundamentally revolutionize work practices, ultimately leading to reduced costs and project lead times.

According to Kjetel Digre, CEO of Aker Solutions, this contract marks a transformative phase for the company.

“We are proud to serve as the MMO provider for the Yggdrasil Area, which includes three topsides—Hugin A, Hugin B, and Munin. This project sets a new benchmark for remote operations and low-manned or unmanned production platforms.”


The contract promises to deliver a significant economic boost, facilitating local employment and production activities across various sectors within Norway. Engineering and project management duties are to be handled from Stavanger, Sandnessjøen, and Mumbai, while fabrication will take place at Aker Solutions' facilities in Egersund and Sandnessjøen. This diversified operational strategy is poised to generate considerable opportunities for offshore professionals in the industry.

Digre emphasized the strong foundation on which the alliance is built, focusing on trust and a long-term vision.

This noteworthy contract will be reflected as order intake in the first quarter of 2026 and is estimated to encompass a share of work designated for the initial five-year period. It is categorized as a major contract for Aker Solutions, defined as those in the range of NOK 8.0 billion to NOK 12.0 billion.
